FISHING OBJECTS IN THE MATERIALS FROM THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES ON THE SERGUSHKIN ISLAND (ZONE OF THE BOGUCHANOVSKAYA HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER STATION FLOODING)
Abstract
The article deals with the objects directly or indirectly related to ancient fishing found in 2009–2012 in the archaeological layers on the archaeological sites of the Sergushkin island located in the northern stream of the Angara river (the zone of the Boguchanskaya hydro-electric power station flooding). For this territory, fishing played a significant role in the vital strategies of human groups during the whole Holocene Age. However, fishing related objects in the materials from the Sergushkin settlements are few. They are bone harpoon points (three items) and fishing forks (8 items), bone jig fish (2 items) and stone two-headed (Janus like) fish (4 items), fishing hooks made of stone and bronze (3 items), iron “spinner” (1 item) and a massive stone fishing weight. These listed objects belong to different historical periods (Neolithic, Bronze Age, Middle Age), have a large number of analogies in archaeological materials of the Angara River region and border territories, and indicate the individual way of fishing in the local population.
