EXAMPLES OF TOURIST MYTH-MAKING IN ALTAI KRAI ON THE BASIS OF HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL POTENTIAL OF THE TERRITORY

Abstract
This article deals with the issues related to the study of myth-making of the Altai Territory in the context of its use in tourism. Due to the extensive historical and cultural potential of the territory there is a possibility of its use in such a tourist phenomenon as myth-making. Mythology of space is the most important part of the culture of the local population and affects the formation of the image of the territory. This, in turn, affects the perception of the territory by tourists visiting it. Myths, reflecting the cultural specificity of a place, express its spirit, which, along with urban legends, influences the formation of the geographical image, the special atmosphere of the place, its cultural identity, which, in turn, acts as a decisive factor in the choice of a place for travelling by tourists. The authors analyse the main elements of mythologisation of tourist space, different types of myth classifications and principles of their creation. The article also gives actual examples of myth creation in the sphere of tourism on the territory of Altai Krai.
