Abstract

Abstract. The article presents some results of the research of the “late” images, called “folk” or “ethnographic”, dating back to the New Age (17th — early 20th centuries) and identified by the authors on such rock art sites of the Minusinsk Basin as Tepsey, Ust-Tuba, Ulazy, Georgievskaya, Funktikova and others. New petroglyphs are introduced into scientific circulation, their technical and stylistic features are analyzed, the most common plots and images are highlighted: horses with riders sitting or standing on the backs of animals, dogs, camels, hunting and migration scenes, “family couples”, round dances, scenes with shamans and fantastic creatures and others. The known cases of imitation in the New Age of drawings made in previous eras, as well as “co-creation” of ethnographic images with more ancient ones are described in detail. The authors come to the conclusion about the value of this source for understanding the worldview of the local population living in the Minusinsk Basin in the 17th — early 20th centuries, its originality, uniqueness of images and plots, which simply convey pictures of life, features of beliefs, impressions of what was happening, and also reflect the changes that took place in the region in connection with the penetration of Russians into these lands.
