Russian emigration's social and economic life in Xinjiang until the 1930s

Abstract
The article aims to present the features of the activities carried out by Russian emigrants in Xinjiang in the 19th-20th centuries. The main focus was on the period leading up to the revolution and the next two decades. The relevance of the work is due to the preliminary study of Russian emigrants' life and their influence on the population in Xinjiang. The primary sources on this topic are archival materials and works devoted to describing the life of the Russian emigration. The work is based on an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to the study of the past.
Until 1917, Russian emigrants' activities were carried out under the protection of the imperial consuls. Before the revolution, the flow of emigration was insignificant. However, they created the infrastructure for the future Russian emigrants, which eliminated the need to create it anew after 1917. Despite this, the white emigrants faced great difficulties, mainly unemployment and difficulties in the arrangement of everyday life. In addition, the new cultural environment they lived in was different from what they were used to. As a result of this factor, adaptation to new conditions largely depended on the capabilities of individual families and social attitudes. Day after day, Russian emigrants became an integral part of the social landscape of Xinjiang.
