National and civic identity: the working program of the discipline

Abstract
The academic discipline "National and civil identity" is taught to students of religious studies and regional studies of the Altai state university. In modern society, there are active processes of globalization and intercultural interaction. Under these conditions, the most important problem of identity arises at both the individual and social, ethnic, religious and other levels. It is the formation of self-identification that can help to prevent a number of conflicts arising from misunderstanding of another cultural tradition. The purpose of teaching the discipline is to consistently acquire knowledge of the problem field of identity, as well as to demonstrate the possibility of positive compatibility of processes of ethnic and civil identification. Objectives of the course: to acquaint with the history of study and theoretical understanding of the concept of "identity"; to identify and characterize the main types of identity; to characterize the main criteria for the formation of identity in Russian society; to consider the problematic aspects of the development of identity in modern Russia. The working program of the discipline includes a thematic section with a brief description of each topic, guidelines for preparation for seminars, list of recommended educational and scientific literature.
