Materials of the 1st millennium monument Blizhnie Elbany 3 (materials of the State Hermitage)

Abstract

The article opens a series of publications devoted to the monument — considered as basic for archaeology of Western Siberia — Blizhnie Elbany, materials of which served as the foundation for creating a periodization scheme of ancient history of not only Altai, but the whole of Siberia. The aim of this work is to introduce into scientific circulation previously unpublished materials from the monument Blizhnie Elbany 3 stored in the State Hermitage. They are presented by 3 broken vessels, two of which, on the basis of analysis of morphological characteristics and ornamentation, belong to Fominskii stage of the Kulaiskaya archaeological culture, the third belonging to Akutikhinskii stage of the Odintsovskaya archaeological culture. The work contains their descriptions and figures. The published materials allow to single out in the sources of the site Blizhnie Elbany 3 two more cultural-chronological groups, which were not described in earlier publications. Introduction into the scientific circulation although small volume of material enriches a small source database by representing the final stage of the Early Iron Age (Fominskii stage of Kulaiskaya culture) and the beginning of the Early Middle Ages (Odintsovskaya archaeological culture).
