Abstract

Samples of nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC) with various contents of sulfate groups are studied by means of methods of atomic force microscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry. Properties of films derived by water evaporation from aqueous NCC dispersion depend on concentration of sulfate groups: the temperature and type of thermodestruction are changed versus contents of sulfate groups; the surface morphology alters and surface roughness increases; water adsorption increases particularly at high relative pressure.
