DYNAMICS OF CARBOHYDRATES YIELD DURING THE HIGH TEMPERATURE HYDROLYSIS OF WHEAT STRAW WITH SULFUROUS ACID
Abstract
The influence of temperature and time treatment on the composition and content of carbohydrates of wheat straw hydrolysates with sulfurous acid (0,.59 and 1,18% wt.) was investigated. The maximum yield of sugars in hydrolysates obtained at temperatures of 150–200 °C did not exceed 10% of the total carbohydrate content of the straw. Irrespective of the temperature effects in the hydrolysates xylose predominated (48,4–55,1 mol% of monosaccharides). The dynamics of mono-, oligo-and polysaccharide yeld during hydrolysis of wheat straw with sulfurous acid 0,59% wt. at 190 °C was analyzed. Due to the high content of pentoses, and in particular, xylose, obtained hydrolysates for produce xylose, xylitol and furfural, fodder yeast could be used.
