The cult of goddess on the terracotta of Hantepa

Abstract
The article is devoted to studying the material culture of the Hantepa Site, located near Yerkurghan, the ancient capital center of Sogd. Materials from the site provide interesting data, confirming the ethnocultural relationships of ancient population of the Kashkadarya Oasis. Archaeological finds from the Hantepa Site allow to trace the influence of nomadic cultures on the culture of the agricultural oasis. Such an influence can be traced in the ceramics used in everyday life and for religious purposes, as well as on the terracotta. Among the finds is of particular interest terracotta with a female image. With the help of new scientific achievements in this field, this terracotta is interpreted as the image of the goddess Artemis. Also, the article shows the difference between the local tradition and the integration images in the visual arts of the terracotta of Central Asia. In addition to this find, the remaining terracotta of the site also require a special scientific approach. In the article, an important place is given to one of such terracotta, which complements the history of the development of the worldview among the population of Southern Sogd.
