Abstract

The article is devoted to the consideration of the state of the collection of the Elovka settlement, stored in the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography of Omsk State University. In the 251 Theory and practice of archaeological research cultural layer of the site which is up to 1 m thick, numerous fragments of ceramics and ruins of vessels, mainly from the 12th–10th centuries BC, belonging to the Elovka and Irmen archaeological cultures, were found. Numerous tools, weapons, jewelry made from bronze, animal bones, clay, and shells were found. The cultural layer has not been affected by human activities, so all objects lie in situ. All of the above allows us to consider the settlement as one of the main ones for studying the Late Bronze Age of the Upper Ob region.

Unfortunately, V.I. Matyushchenko, who conducted excavations at the settlement, did not have time to complete the analysis of the collection, since he paid much attention to the analysis of cemeteries synchronous to the settlement. The collection is currently available for study. Unfortunately, some of the ceramic dishes have not been organized and are in the bags in which they were brought to Omsk. Another part of the utensils was subjected to office processing, and partially restored. Therefore, it is possible to describe the shape and ornamentation of several hundred vessels. The complex of weapons, tools and decorations has been organized and is available for study. Materials can play an important role in the study of the genesis of cultures of the Late Bronze Age, in connection with an attempt to correct the scheme of their development.
