Evenks: scientometric analysis of materials presented in the databases Web of Science and Scholar Sibirica

Abstract

The paper objective is a comparative scientometric analysis of the document corpus selected from databases Web of Science (Thomson Reuters) and Scholar Sibirica (generated by the State Public Scientific Technological Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences), which is dedicated to investigating various aspects of the Evenks life. It gives a brief characteristic of the temporal, language, geographical, thematic and typical structure of the information arrays. The study identifies: authors with high publication activity, who are engaged in investigations of Evenk life various aspects; names the most productive periodicals and thematic collections of scientific papers; marks scientific events where the problems of indigenous peoples (including Evenks ethnic group) of Siberia, Far East, and Arctic have been discussed; shows teams of scientists actively working on the above-mentioned topic. Special emphasis puts to the analysis of monographic publications. The analysis of the document corpus subjects reveals two main research fields — Evenk culture and linguistics, its shows that insufficient attention is paid to the problems of studying the ecology of traditional residence territories, legal foundations of ethnos development, as well as ethno- education. The paper concludes that the research of the Evenks ethnic group is actively developing, as evidenced by the constant growth in the document array volumes, attracting the attention of not only Russian but also foreign experts. Both databases could be used as an information basis to develop this scientific direction.
