Abstract

The initial results of radar study of Honey Buzzard migration above the territory of Central Israel were presented. We came to conclusion that the bird flocks choose the route and height of migratory flights which correspond to the optimum atmospheric conditions and minimum energy costs. This was caused by convective streams and bars that formed under influence of breeze and mountain-valley circulation.
