Desyatov. Images of Epochs and Historical Periods in the Russian Culture of the 20th century. Basic Actions.

Abstract

In the history of Russia of the 20th century, there are nine periods, each of which is represented in artistic culture by one or another action, type of activity, which can be called the main characteristics for these periods. The images of historical periods and epochs are determined by such dominant themes that have become established in art and have become (in the semiotic aspect of research) symbols of a particular time. For example, dance remained a relevant symbol of cultural self-determination on the principle of affirmation/denial for three periods: dance proper, war, and labor. The chosen approach allows us to detect rather intense historical and cultural dynamics. The artistic culture of Russia of the 20th century was aimed at identifying new processes in the social and private life of a person. The activity of several periods is connected with the philosophy of F. Nietzsche, the period of labor — with the philosophy of K. Marx. Russian art of the 20th century reflected not only the human activity, but also the rapid change of its prevailing types.
