"The Last Hope of the Exiled" Evsey Borovikov by D. Kainchin: the Fate of the Man at the Turn of the History

Abstract

It is for the first time that genre, ideological, theme and structural peculiarities of the story are studied. The relationship between the man and the history is revealed in the article. It is depicted through the complex plot structure of the third part of the trilogy, based on the archive records. D. Kainchin uses this material literary, he turns real life into the artistic one through skillful literary methods. The manner of writing, the peculiarities of the author’s narration and the  individualization of the characters’ speech are described in the article. Much attention is given to the author’s interpretation of the main character – Evsey Borovikov. The place and significance of the book in the modern Altai literature is defined. The author of the article attempts to compare his work to the story Oblava by Vasili Bykov. The fate of the main character, Khvedor Rovba, has something in common with the life of Evsey Borovikov. The degree of similarity in their views and values, their attitudeto collectivization and dispossession of the kulaks is under analysis in the article.
