The Communicative Code of the Ancient Greek lyrics and the Problem of the Role Character

Abstract

In the article, the lyrical subject’s structure of the ancient Greek lyrics is studied in the aspect of communication theory. Lyrics communicative code is presented as a criterion to classify lyric texts of the individual creative epoch. The principle of the lyrical subject role substitution in the ancient Greek lyrics is considered as a prototype of the role character phenomenon in the lyrics of the following epochs. The formation of an individual principle is shown mainly on the material of ancient Greek meliks. It is investigated simultaneously with the change of the author’s type of communication and a «substitute» character who claims to have a status of a role-playing hero. It is found out that basic principles of the author’s communication as a way to create the lyric subject in the normative and individual-creative epochs during the archaic period are most vividly presented in the genre of epitaph-epigram. Its dedication character is implicitly communicative. The author of the articles proves that the Greek lyrics gradually gives up its ritual forms and the structure of the lyrical subject becomes a phenomenon of aesthetic type.
