Structure of Artistic Time and Space Continua in the Play of A. Vampilov "House Overlooking the Field"

Abstract

The article deals with the structure and dynamics of artistic time in the early play ofA. Vampilov House Overlooking the field, the connection of time with space, their metaphorical unity. There exists continuity with a later play Duck Hunting, where complex differentiated time is linked to timeless eternity. Transformations of the past, present and future in the play House Overlooking the Field determine the dynamics of the relations of the main characters and form the plot. In the past, there are opportunities for abandoned future that can still influence the present. And it is perceived by the heroes as a resource. The boundaries between the real and the unreal are blurred, the future is included in the present and becomes the past, getsdeconstructed. The action on the stage, localized in the dialogue of two lovers, is characterized by the simultaneity of the artistic time – the past, the present and the future, which becomes the catalyst for the moment when the decision is made by Tretyakov. In the play House Overlooking the Field creative relationships of the main characters with the time acquire the significance of fateful. The variability of time frames, their layers, freedom of imaginary time travel of the heroes create a special Vampilov chronotope in the play.
